Project Angel Food's mission is to improve health outcomes and end food insecurity for critically ill men, women, and children in Los Angeles by preparing and delivering Medically Tailored Meals with compassion and hope. Today, Project Angel Food prepares and delivers over 1.2 million Medically Tailored Meals each year to 2,400 clients daily. Founded in 1989 in response to the AIDS crisis, the organization has provided almost 15 million meals to 25,000+ chronically and terminally ill clients throughout Los Angeles County. Volunteers and staff cook, prepare, and deliver nutritious meals, free of charge, to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. Project Angel Food’s Medically Tailored Meals and nutritional counseling services alleviate hunger, prevent malnutrition, and improve health outcomes with scientific research and nutritional best practices that turn a “food is medicine” philosophy into an action plan that has positive material consequences for L.A.’s most at risk and vulnerable populations.
