Through the discipline of rowing and rigorous academic support, Row New York transforms the lives of New Yorkers, regardless of background or ability.

Row New York began in 2002 on Meadow Lake in Queens to increase academic and athletic opportunities for girls living in some of New York’s most under-resourced communities. Since that time, we have evolved into a nationally-recognized sports-based youth development organization serving 240 middle school and high school students from low-income neighborhoods, 1,500 teens in public schools and juvenile detention centers, and over 200 individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities. Row New York participants row out of the World’s Fair Boathouse on Meadow Lake in Queens, the Peter Jay Sharp boathouse on the Harlem River in Manhattan, and the Paerdegat Basin Boathouse in Canarsie, Brooklyn.

Our programs empower participants to become strong, healthy, competitive athletes, and curious, highly motivated students with a love of learning and a capacity for realizing their full potential. As athletes learn stroke technique and build strength and fitness, they develop the confidence and endurance to push beyond their limits.
