Helping the People of Haiti: We Charity, Haven Haiti and GlobalMedic

From the deaths and injuries, and the number of people still stranded, to the homes reduced to mounds of rubble, and the cases of cholera contracted, Haiti is struggling to recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

My family has close ties to Ile a Vache, an island off the south-west tip of Haiti. We have been working with the very special kids at an orphanage called L’oeuvre Saint Francis D’Assise, which houses 70 kids, half of them with special needs. Sadly, Ile a Vache and the orphanage were in the eye of the Category 4 Hurricane Matthew, and have been absolutely devastated.

This online auction is our effort to try and help the Haitian people gain back some of what they’ve lost. Proceeds will benefit three very worthy organizations – Haven Haiti, WE Charity and GlobalMedic – who are each best positioned to deliver what the people on Ile a Vache, and in the neighboring town of Les Cayes, need most. From cholera relief and prevention, to food and medicine provision, to shelter from the elements, these three organizations will be aided by the funds raised in this auction to help the most needy people in the south-west of Haiti.
