Sarnoff came to BBC Worldwide North America from Dow Jones where she was President of Dow Jones Ventures and Senior Vice President of Strategy. Her responsibilities ranged from leveraging the assets of the brand in order to create new businesses to overseeing corporate strategy and business development. In addition to a stint as COO for the Women’s National Basketball Association, she spent 10 years at Viacom where she was Nickelodeon’s Executive Vice President for Consumer Products and Business Development, and subsequently, COO for VH1 and CMT. While at Viacom, Sarnoff launched new cable channels TV Land, Noggin and VH1 Classic, and built Nickelodeon consumer products into a multi-billion dollar business at retail.
Since joining BBC Worldwide North America, Sarnoff has been pivotal to establishing a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and AMC Networks for cable channel BBC AMERICA, of which BBC Worldwide owns 50.1%; closing a partnership agreement between BBC Worldwide North America and Blue Ant Media to launch BBC Earth, the BBC’s premiere factual channel in Canada; and partnering with ITV, the UK’s biggest commercial broadcaster, to bring BritBox, a subscription video on demand (SVOD) streaming service to the U.S. in March, 2017.
