Yolanda Macías is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, renewing and acquiring content rights from independent producers and studios for all distribution platforms. She oversees digital and television distribution across all platforms and for all consumption models. In addition, Macias oversees the strategy, growth and relationships with the distributed content providers, producers and film makers. Recent film acquisitions include: Anton Corbijn, Life, Addario/Syracuse, Amateur Night, Bordo’s A Brave Heart, and Morano, Meadowland.
During her tenure at Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, Macías oversaw content acquisitions including securing home entertainment distribution rights for Crown Media’s Hallmark Channel and The Jim Henson Company.
Macías helmed the launch and established the distribution strategy for Vivendi Entertainment’s digital distribution services along with acquiring rights for branded content such as National Geographic, WWE, NFL and Shout!Factory. Macías, as part of the executive team, built Vivendi Entertainment to an attractive profitable business and assisted in the sale of the company to Gaiam Inc.
Prior to joining Vivendi, Macías was vice president of DIRECTV Spanish-language and International Services for DIRECTV, Inc. Macías launched and oversaw all aspects of the Spanish-language and Chinese-language programming service as well as international and ethnic programming developments for the DIRECTV service.
Prior to joining DIRECTV, Macías held executive positions at Technicolor and The Walt Disney Company. Macias has over 25 years of home entertainment experience. While at DIRECTV, Macias was honored as one of the Top 50 Women in Business by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Macias was honored as one of the Elite Women 2009 - 2014 in the home entertainment industry and was recognized as an industry digital driver in 2010 - 2015. This year, Macias was selected as one of the Fabulous 50 Business Alumni from the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics/CSUN.
Macías received her MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and her B.S. degree from California State University, Northridge.
