Internationally acclaimed British-born, New York based artist Peter Heywood taught physics and math and was voted Britain' s Best Teacher in 1995. Shortly after receiving this award, Peter made a major decision to become a full time painter. This was reinforced by Peter's first exhibition at Savile Row in London. That same year he moved to South Africa, where he found the landscape inspiring. Successful exhibitions were held at galleries in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Later, during a two-year stay in Venice, the architectural magnificence produced successful shows in Venice and at the Century Gallery in Henley on Thames near London.
He has also had several successful exhibitions in Malta and his work can be found in private residences throughout the world. Since 2010 he has lived in New York City and has created an arresting series of New York's most famous landmarks in a totally original way: as seen through vast reflections of neighboring buildings. Recent showings include Alan Barnes Fine Art of Santa Fe and a very successful exhibition at the Lilah Heller Gallery on W. 25th Street in Manhattan. Private clients include Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, financier John Rosenwald and Anna Murdoch.
