Guy Humphrey began his architectural career at the age of 8 when his father gave him a hammer and he built a tiny two-story clubhouse. Around the same time, his father gave him a camera and Guy built a darkroom in their home. That's how his love for photography began. Photography for Guy is a way of connecting real world experiences with an artistic and creative way of seeing. It is true, he says, that one can never capture any moment of time in photography, but that is not what he wants to do. He wants to capture what we do not see. He is always looking for an image that provokes a strong emotional relationship between the physical world in which we live and an imaginative world in which we don't. Guy Humphrey AIA, LEED-AP is a registered architect in New York and Ohio. He has recently co-authored a book entitled The Shadows of Japan: Images and Words.
