Cher: The legend who only needs to use her first name, Cher, is auctioning a garnet felt couture hat that she bought in London a few years ago, designed by famed milliner Gladys Tamez. Tamez is actually a Los Angeles based designer who hand constructs her hats, using traditional millinery expertise blending techniques of American and European tradition -- her luxurious hats are known for their sculptural form and the influence of art as a vanguard philosophy. Cher’s beautiful quasi hippy, quasi cowboy style hat is in excellent condition, embellished by a matching grosgrain ribbon and is a favorite look for the superstar when she travels. It is reminiscent of a look she frequently favors when she’s off stage. Cher uses her unique voice for a myriad of causes she cares deeply about, and LGBQT rights has been an issue close to her heart for a long time.
The Oscar winning actress and singer personally selected the magnificent hat for this special auction and it is housed in a large bespoke hat box that Cher has signed with a special message to Stonewall.
