Have a Custom Commissioned Portrait created for you by Artist, Kip Kemoi, after he understands more about your special family photo during a one on one Zoom call! Plus, get your whole family involved during a DIY Art Experience for your children in California!
Inspired by the work of the Private School Village Kenyan-German rising artist, Kip Kemoi has donated a commissioned art experience the whole family can participate in. Art that the kids will enjoy and your home aesthetic will appreciate.
First, a one-on-one conversation with the artist himself. Kip will meet with the auction winner to discuss the photograph they have chosen to have Kip transform into a custom art piece. From solo scheme to the story behind the photo, the direction of the photo is all inspired by what you share.
After the talk — it’s time to paint. Over the next 4-6 weeks, Kip will take the fruit of your conversation along with the provided photograph to craft a custom piece honoring this special moment and person(s) in your life.
Once completed, it will almost be time for the big reveal! But first, let’s get the kids involved! Kip will host a masked-required, family-friendly, socially-distanced, and COVID-tested — outdoor DIY art experience for your kids! Up to 4 participants can join in the fun! Kip will take the color scheme and design theme from your commission portrait and create templated canvas for your children to explore.
But don’t worry, when it’s all said and done, you will have much more than the refrigerator art you may be used to — you will have art for your home that will not only be a conversation piece but a family memory you will never forget that you can pass down generation to generation.
About the Artist
Kip was born and raised in northern Germany to a Kenyan mother and German father. At 19, he moved to the city of Hamburg to study Social Economics. In 2011 he relocated to California and found a home in Oakland. Inspired by the vibrant and unapologetic Black artist community, Kip picked up a paint brush and never put it down again. He found a powerful, limitless form of expression through art. He now utilizes his art to portray a holistic reflection of the global African community.
Kip is a self-taught artist, portraying images that highlight the emotional spectrum and vulnerabilities of our people. Many of the works are based on original photographs of his Kenyan family and ancestry, often contrasted by bright, patterned backgrounds connecting culture to the work. Kip’s commissioned pieces are created from a desire to connect you with the captured moment, without any preconceptions about the context in which it was created.
