Description of piece:
All That Jazz is a dramatically sized, custom-framed artwork by Tico Torres, internationally famed drummer of iconic rock band Bon Jovi, measures 40-5/8” in height x 34-1/8” width in its black gallery style framing.
This richly-colored artwork, with both deep and bright jewel-toned coloration, synthesizes Tico Torres’ visual artwork with his musical roots— musical instruments, a strong jazz-feel, and musicians’ hands and faces are set within a vibrant abstract.
The serigraph is signed in the plate from the original painting, which Tico created as a tribute to the Grammy’s. To this Limited Edition serigraph, Tico Torres has added his original signature, hand-signed in pencil, “Tico”, in the margin, lower right. In the lower left margin, also in pencil, is the edition number, “193/300”. The work is complemented by matching wide archival matting and a substantial black frame.
Provenance: As an interesting note, this artwork (edition number 193/300) was not sold to its original owner by Tico’s publisher or gallerist; it came either from Tico himself or Tico’s publicist.
Artist bio:
Tico “The Hitman” Torres is best known as an accomplished talent in music; as Bon Jovi’s legendary drummer, he recorded and toured for twenty plus years, with record sales well in excess of one hundred million and still growing. Prior to joining Bon Jovi at the band’s inception in 1983, Tico’s musical expertise was parlayed in a solid career with live and studio drum and percussion experience performing with such greats as Miles Davis, Cher, Alice Cooper, Chuck Berry, Leslie Gore, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks and Franke and the Knockouts.
Tico’s creative talent is not limited to music, and he excels as a visual artist, receiving national and international recognition. An incredibly versatile painter, his forms of visual expression changed and evolved as he developed his own personal style of painting. Many of his works are reminiscent of the German Expressionist painters of the 30′s, while others range from classical to abstract. In addition to his artwork as a painter, he also works in in bronze, ceramics and glass.
Tico’s numerous exhibition credits include over 20 exhibitions in galleries and museums, nationally and internationally, since he began showing his work in 1994. Tico’s work is held in significant private collections including those of Michael Douglas, Valeria Mazza, Cristina Saralegui, Justine Bateman, Celia Lipton Farris, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Heather Locklear, Bono, Greg Norman, Billy Jean King, Ernie Els, Nick Faldo, Johan Kriek, Henri Leconte, Peter Lindbergh, Yannick Noah, Arnold Palmer, Kathy Rinaldi, Wendy Turnbull, Guillermo Vilas, Vanessa Williams, Ron Perlman, Naomi Campbell, Donatella Versace, John Hess, Rocky Aoki, The Estate of Anthony Quinn, Claudia Schiffer, Bruce Springsteen, Nick Price, Gary Player, Mikael Pernfors, Gene Mayer, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, and Steven Van Zandt.
