If you are looking for a truly unique Amazon experience, then look no further then the Tambopata Research Center. You and a guest will spend 4 incredible nights exploring the trails in the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve.
Within the 700,000 hectares of uninhabited nucleus of the reserve, you will have the opportunity to see monkeys, macaws (including one of the largest known macaw clay licks) and even occasional jaguars. Home to several newly discovered species and as seen in National Geographic magazine, the Tambopata Research Center (TRC) is one of the most remote rainforest lodges in South America offering adventurous travelers an outstanding chance to engage with the natural wonders of the Amazon.
This package is based on classic room double occupancy and includes all meals, accommodations, and services such as river transportation and transfer from and to the airport of Puerto Maldonado. Tambopata Research Center rooms are unique due to the fact that one side of the room opens out onto the surrounding rainforest, acting as a window into the forest and allowing guests to enjoy this unique ecosystem even from the comfort of their hammocks and enabling you to view animals, including monkeys, often visible from the lodge. The reason we have been able to incorporate this "luxurious" design into our lodge is because mosquitoes are not really a problem around the lodge clearing and this allows for an intimate contact with the rain forest.
Planned activities include a visit to the macaw clay lick where you can view macaws and parrots making a raucous and colorful spectacle, which inspired a National Geographic cover story. If you cannot get enough of the macaw project, you will have the opportunity to interact with researchers studying Macaw feeding habits, genetics, radio tracking and macaw parasites. Additional activities that can be booked are stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, canopy climbing, and visits to the uninhabited heart of the rainforest.
Meals that are provided are self-serve three course meals combining Peruvian and international cuisine. If visitors have special dietary requirements, we are happy to make individual arrangements, but please notify us.
