Lia Chang will document your party, special event, rehearsal or performance for up to 4 hours.
Lia is an actor (Big Trouble in Little China, New Jack City, King of New York, Wolf), an award-winning multi-platform journalist, and an internationally published and exhibited photographer, who specializes in performance photography, events and candid portraiture.
Lia collaborates with organizations, foundations and individuals in building their photo archives, including playwrights David Henry Hwang, Ping Chong, Philip Kan Gotanda, Rick Shiomi and Chay Yew; actors BD Wong, Thom Sesma, André De Shields and Meshach Taylor; Fashion Designer Yeohlee; and musicians Living Colour drummer Will Calhoun and Master Taiko Artist Kenny Endo.
Her photographs have appeared in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Women's Wear Daily, The Paris Review, American Theatre, New York Magazine and Playbill.com. In 2010, the Library of Congress created The Lia Chang APA Theater Portfolio in the Asian Pacific American Performing Arts Collection. Lia's photographs are also in the permanent collections of the Angel Island Immigration Station, Asian American Federation of New York (AAFNY), Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, the New York City Health and Hospital Corporation Art Collection, New York Historical Society, Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA), Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA), Japanese American National Museum, and in numerous books including "Chinese Americans: The Immigration Experience" by Peter Kwong and Dusanka Miscevic.
