Jason Shuman is a writer and producer who has made over 25 motion pictures grossing more than $500 million worldwide as well as produced over 200 episodes of television. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Shuman attended USC Film School’s Production program before starting his career with Academy Award-winning producer Arnold Kopelson. In film, Mr. Shuman has produced 4 films that reached number one at the box office with Darkness Falls, The Messengers, Bangkok Dangerous, and the critically acclaimed Lone Survivor. Other well-known films he has produced include Rebel In The Rye, Little Black Book, Daddy Day Camp, Middle Men, The Obituary Of Tunde Johnson, and the beloved comedy, Role Models.
Recently, Mr. Shuman co-wrote & produced two worldwide globally released films: the crowd-charming Focus Features’ comedy-drama, Half Brothers, and the Amazon Prime/Sony Spanish language comedy, War of Likes. In theaters now Mr. Shuman produced the critically acclaimed drama To Leslie, starring Andrea Riseborough, Marc Maron, and Alison Janney. Arriving in theaters this spring will be the musical spectacular La Usurpadora, from director Santiago Limon. In TV, Mr. Shuman co-created, co-wrote, and is the Executive Producer of the Apple TV+ hit comedy series Acapulco, which has received a 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes as well as multiple nominations, both for Critics Choice Award and Hollywood Critics Award, and most recently collecting five Imagen Award nominations, including Best Comedy. Acapulco Season 2 premieres October 21st, 2022 on Apple TV+. Mr. Shuman is also an Executive Producer on HBO’s hit series Winning Time: The Rise Of The Lakers Dynasty, directed by Oscar winner Adam McKay, with season 2 currently in production. Currently, Mr. Shuman has an overall deal with COLUMBIA PICTURES/SONY and is writing several features with his partner, Eduardo Cisneros (Instructions Not Included), under their newly formed RaqMar Entertainment production banner.
