SYNOPSIS:
With two weeks until Christmas, MARY BYERS is a thirty-one-year-old designer for an architectural firm who is estranged from when her friend and co-worker, MICHELLE BEDFORD, was put on the board of directors instead of Mary. When the firm has the chance to design a $1.2. a billion projects in Mexico, Mary is stunned when Michelle (who is the project manager) requests Mary as lead designer. The reason becomes clear when she learns the land is in Coahuila, where Mary grew up. Mary's co-worker JONATHAN assures her she only needs to fly down for the day and will be back in time for Christmas.
Mary's family is in Coahuila but she's disconnected from them. She has other reasons to be nervous as, in Coahuila, she was best friends with CHARLIE, a young man who wrote her many postcards that she never replied to. Charlie now works at the Equestrian Horse Therapy Center. In Coahuila, Mary unites with Michelle, who is already there and has formed a relationship with Charlie. They meet with RODRIGO GOMEZ, the wealthy client, who intends to build a resort and wants to tear down the Equestrian Center. Mary immediately objects as her deceased mother was a stunt rider and the horses were of great importance to her. Michelle warns Mary not to sabotage their chances but Mary convinces Rodrigo she can design a spa that will incorporate the ranch and turn it into a competitive horse training center. Rodrigo insists on having Mary stay in Coahuila until Christmas. As all the hotels are booked, Mary has no choice but to contact her family. Mary reunites with her father, MITCH, and sister CYNTHIA, who has two daughters, SARAH and AYLA. It's clear there is tension between the sisters though Mitch welcomes Mary. She pays a visit to Charlie and they have an awkward reunion as Mary realizes Michelle is very interested in him. She also reunites with Rain, who was her mother's horse, and it becomes clear Mary has a fear of riding. Elsewhere, it's revealed Rodrigo is trying to reconcile with his daughter, and MILAGROS, an important local woman, needs a home to host the Posada, a traditional celebration held around Christmastime. Rodrigo makes a deal with Mary: he'll consider her proposal to save the ranch if she convinces Mitch to host the Posada at his house. Mary convinces her family but continues to fight with Cynthia. As she's noticed Cynthia needs money, she offers her a percentage of the commission she'll receive once Rodrigo signs the contract. Michelle and Mary meet with Rodrigo and agree to host the Posada but Mary knows little about the traditions and asks Charlie for help. She learns he thinks Rodrigo is going to sell him the ranch and she doesn't tell him that it's in jeopardy. She also apologizes for never answering his postcards as she distanced herself from Mexico following her mother's death. The pair rediscover their old rapport and Charlie tries to get Mary to ride Rain but Mary isn't ready. Over the following days, Mary prepares her pitch for Rodrigo even as she and the others prepare for the Posada. During this, Mary and Charlie continue to grow closer, sparking Michelle's jealousy. It's revealed Rain is now Rodrigo's horse but Charlie intends to buy her back once he owns the ranch. Mary starts to grow more comfortable around Rain.
On the night of the posada, Mary and Cynthia begin to resolve their differences as everyone prepares for the celebration. The posada is initially a great success but Charlie decides to tell Michelle he's no longer interested in her. Deducing it's because of Mary, a jealous Michelle tells him that Mary is planning to go forward with Rodrigo's initial demands and tear down the ranch. Tensions erupt between Mary and Michelle which leads Cynthia to intervene on behalf of her sister. The situation becomes chaotic and embarrasses Rodrigo who announces he's considering not hiring their firm. Michelle and Mary are forced to confront each other and resolve their issues. They agree to work together to save the deal with Rodrigo. Charlie learns the truth about Mary's intentions and he convinces her to ride Rain, during which it's revealed her mother died while riding Rain during a competition. Overcome with emotion, she is forced to leap off of Rain. Later, Michelle visits Rodrigo and begs for another chance but he is caught up in trying to reconcile with his daughter. Mary learns Rodrigo is planning on selling Rain and she confronts him and tries to help him come to terms with his issues with his daughter. Mary recovers Rain and manages to ride her again, finally making peace with the past. Returning to Charlie, the pair kiss. Mary has an inspiration about how to win Rodrigo back and, on Christmas Eve, Rodrigo is brought to the ranch where he is stunned to reunite with his daughter LILIANA. Mary tracked her down and convinced her to come home. They then present their new resort which will include a center for all types of therapy and will include expanding the Equestrian Ranch. Rodrigo, however, has a surprise of his own: he is Mary's long-lost uncle who was estranged from his family. He reconnected with Mitch after his sister's death and they arranged a plan to bring Mary back to Mexico. Rodrigo reveals he intends to give the land to Mary and she naturally hires her own company to rebuild. The characters all gather for a Christmas celebration with Mary surrounded by her family, friends, and Charlie.
