Anne Carey is President of Production at Archer Gray, a media company based in New York City. She has a long history of development oriented producing, working frequently from literary material and collaborating with award winning filmmakers.
Recent notable credits include the Netflix feature film LOST GIRLS, directed by Liz Garbus, written by Michael Werwie, starring Amy Ryan; Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-nominated CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME? written by Jeff Whitty and Nicole Holofcener, directed by Marielle Heller and starring Melissa McCarthy and Richard E Grant; Academy Award-nominated 20TH CENTURY WOMEN written and directed by Mike Mills and starring Annette Bening ; MR. HOLMES written by Jeffrey Hatcher and directed by Bill Condon, starring Sir Ian McKellen and the Independent Spirit Award-winner THE DIARY OF A TEENAGE GIRL written and directed by Marielle Heller.
Prior to Archer Gray, Carey co-founded and was partner at the independent production company This is That which produced many critically-acclaimed and commercially successful films including Tamara Jenkins's Academy Award nominated THE SAVAGES, Greg Mottola’s ADVENTURELAND, Anton Corbijn’s THE AMERICAN, Nicole Holofcener’s FRIENDS WITH MONEY and Tod Williams's THE DOOR IN THE FLOOR.
Carey was a producer and Head of Development at the seminal independent film company Good Machine. During that period, Good Machine produced some of independent cinema’s most widely renowned films including, THE BROTHERS MCMULLEN, THE LARAMIE PROJECT, IN THE BEDROOM, THE ICE STORM, and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON.
Carey’s films have been distributed through Netflix, A24, Fox Searchlight, Universal, Sony Picture Classics, Warner Independent, Focus Features, Miramax and HBO. Her films have played and premiered at all major domestic and international film festivals.
In addition to producing, Carey has served as an adjunct professor at both Columbia University’s Graduate Film School and NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an advisor/consultant to the Canadian Film Center. She is a frequent mentor to the Sundance Institute. She is an active lecturer.
