Artist bio:
Amos Nachoum is President of BigAnimals Expeditions and a Fellow of the famed Explorers Club, but first and foremost he is an explorer and a guide to some of the most exotic locations in the world. Amos co-founded Israel’s Marine National Park on the Red Sea, and works to bring public attention to the most fragile regions of the underwater realm, with preservation of the environment foremost in his mind. His favorite way to raise awareness and stimulate passion for the ocean is to take four to six guests out to experience it first-hand, but for those not able to join him on his adventures, he uses his camera to bring the oceans to the world.
Over the years, he has led many great expeditions for individual adventurers such as Buzz Aldrin and Sylvia Earle, and institutions like Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Discovery Channel, Armani, Disney, Colombia Pictures, Nikon, BBC Wildlife, and of course, National Geographic, with whom he was team leader for separate photo expeditions to document the Red Sea, Great White Sharks, and Killer Whales. Amos’ photos and essays have appeared in more than 500 publications around the globe, including National Geographic, Time, Life, The New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, Le Figaro, Terra Sauvage, Airone, Mondo Somerso, Der Spiegel, Unterwasser, and many more. His work has also been included in the books: The Living Ocean, The World of Nature, and Oceans. He has been profiled in television appearances on National Geographic Explorer, Today, and Good Morning America, as well as featured in People, Esquire, and Money magazines.
The documentary film “Picture Of His Life,” about Amos Nachoum, photographer and environmental activist, is now making its U.S. premiere. The film follows the life and career of Nachoum, who has dedicated his life to photographing the world’s largest and most fearsome predators in order to give them a voice and show them to people in a light that replaces fear with respect. His ultimate goal is to build an appreciation for the animals’ power and beauty so people are more motivated to protect them. To see the trailer, go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SuvAqrTLUo
