View all 5 images

Want to put your name on something that will really cause a roar? The highest bidder will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to name one of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s Sumatran tiger cubs. Sumatran tigers are critically endangered with numbers as low as 400 left in the wild. Every birth is a celebration. As the winning bidder, you could win the opportunity to name a cub and ultimate bragging rights and be part of the success story to save this beautiful species.

Your winning bid not only includes the naming rights, but media recognition at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and through printed and online communications, and a behind-the-scenes tour for you and a small group of five to meet your cub with a professional photographer to capture your day.

Name must be approved by the zoo. The naming rights are guaranteed for the time the animal is part of the collection at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. We cannot guarantee that if the animal is shipped to another zoo, that zoo will keep the name. The bidding amount is fully tax deductible. We anticipate many media opportunities around the naming rights. Because these are live animals and not inanimate objects, we unfortunately cannot guarantee their survival -- even with the world-class care that we provide for them. In the regrettable event that an animal were to die, all donations are non-refundable.
