Kitschy musical remake of "Bachelor Mother". Debbie Reynolds plays an over-eager clerk in a large department store and Eddie Fisher plays the boss' son. After getting fired from her job, she finds an adorable baby on the steps of the foundling home and the folks inside mistake her for the mother. Fisher, well-meaning, but obtuse, tries to help her out with the baby, and the buds of romance begin to appear. Meanwhile old Merlin, the owner of the store, thinks he just might be a grandfather...
- This vintage hand-painted film poster of the musical comedy "Bundle of Joy", 1956 is one of a collection of over 800 hand painted film posters of over 500 unique films, painted by John J. Lomasney.
- The film was directed by Norman Taurog.
- Starring Eddie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Adolphe Menjou, and Tommy Noonan.
- The film had one Golden Globe nomination.
- Lomasney painted over 56 years of film (1925- 1981) including 387 Oscar nominated and 83 Oscar winning films.
- These posters were originally painted for display at the Royal Hawaiian Kuhio Theater in Honolulu.
- Painted in gouache on 22 by 44-inch artboard.
- Called a "treasure trove of art" by the New York Post.

John Lomasney, an only child, was born In Ireland around the turn of the Century. He came to the United States and spent some time in California where he worked briefly as a set painter at Warner Brothers and Paramount. Almost nothing is known of this reclusive "loner" who moved to Hawaii in 1936 with his mother, Mary Lomasney. He went to work for the Royal Hawaiian Theater chain as a staff artist.
At that time theater chains competed for customers and relied on the - "one sheets" - that were placed in the glass display cases in the front of the theater to attract customers. Royal Hawaiian hired Lomasney to create their own "One Sheets" as opposed to the "One Sheets" supplied by the Studios. Eliminating the myriad of credits on the studio posters, Lomasney was able to create more colorful, graphic posters that accented highlights of the action or the character portrayal of the stars.
Using the studio supplied stills as inspiration; Lomasney painstakingly fashioned his original posters, painting in gouache on 28 by 44 inch art board. He seldom did more than four posters for a movie and each one is unique, a one of a kind creation.
For forty years Lomasney spent everyday of his working life creating this treasure of movie nostalgia.
His only interests were movies and painting. He rarely talked with anyone and if he did it was only about movies. When he was working in his studio he was quick to "shush" anyone whose conversation rose above a whisper. Dick Howard, Royal Hawaiians' director of advertising in 1970, describes Lomasney this way - "He was slow, meticulous and very detailed. His entire life was focused on movies... practically the only subject capable of moving him to speak " He smoked "White Owl" cigars and was always well dressed in a sport coat, shirt and trademark bow tie.
When he left the employ of Royal Hawaiian he took only one paint brush and never kept any of his own work.
In those days, studio-trained painters were schooled to be anonymous and there are only two of his original signatures known to exist.
One of the most astonishing aspects of Lomasney's versatility and inventiveness is the skill with which he dramatically integrates billing requirements with huge luminescent portraits of such idols as Errol Flynn, Sophia Loren, Natalie Wood, Fred Astaire, Gregory Peck, John Wayne, etc., etc..
Lomasney died at the age of 90 in 1989 and was buried beside his mother in Diamond Head Memorial Park.
From Rudolph Valentino to Elvis Presley, Lomasney's contribution to this exciting art form will be treasured forever.

- Overtime or "Popcorn" Bidding: Bids placed within 10 minutes prior to a lot's scheduled closing time will extend the closing time on that lot an additional 10 minutes. All lots will close when there have been no bids placed within the last remaining 10 minutes.

Overtime Bid
Why did the auction closing time extend by 10 minutes after I placed my bid? This is called "Popcorn" Bidding: Bids placed within 10 minutes prior to a lot's scheduled closing time will extend the closing time on that lot an additional 10 minutes. This gives all bidders an opportunity to place a competing bid. All lots will close when there have been no bids placed within the last remaining 10 minutes.
Max Bid
Max bidding allows you to bid the maximum amount you wish to bid for an auction lot. Your maximum bid won't be displayed to other bidders, but will be displayed as the current bid based on the bidding increment. The following example illustrates max bidding:
- Auction Lot 1000 has a current bid of $0. The minimum bid is $250.
- Juan places and confirms a maximum bid of $500. Juan's bid is displayed as $250.
- Sally places a bid of $300 and is notified that the bid was not accepted because it did not exceed the maximum bid.
- Juan's next bid is automatically increased to the next bidding increment of $350.
- If no other bids are placed, Juan is the winner at $350.
- If Juan's $500 max bid is overtaken by another bidder, he will receive an outbid notice.

liveBID
What does liveBID mean in the auction title and description?
In addition to an online auction, charities frequently conduct live galas and feature a live auction at the event. For the auction lots that are included in the online auction and the live auction, we note them with "liveBID" in the lot description, and we close the online bidding the day of the live auction. We contact the highest bidders on those liveBID lots by phone to see if the bidders want us to continue bidding on their behalf at the live auction.
In addition, a live gala may also include a silent auction. In these cases, charitybuzz bidders can bid online for silent auction items along with the guests at the event. These items remain open online until they close at the event. Winning bidders will be notified via email when credit card charges are processed. Please note that silent auction items do not support the Max Bid feature. The amount you bid will be registered as the next bid regardless of increment, so please bid carefully.

ReserveBID
ReserveBID is a way for donors/charities to ensure that items do not sell below their value. Some items will start at a lower opening bid price to encourage bidding; however items that display "ReserveBID not met" below the current bid are not obligated to be sold to the highest bidder. Bidding must surpass the set reserve price in order to sell; therefore once "ReserveBID not met" disappears, the item is valid for sale at the current bid posted.
