Enjoy lunch for 2 with Alek Wek and Lubov Azria at Colicchio & Sons Restaurant in NYC this September.
BCBGMAXAZRIA was founded in 1989 by Designer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Max Azria. In 1991, Azria’s wife and Chief Creative Office, Lubov, joined BCBGMAXAZRIA. Starting with a simple vision, to create a beautiful dress, BCBGMAXAZRIA has earned critical acclaim, a loyal following of influencers in film and television and extensive distribution worldwide. Named for the French phrase bon chic, bon genre, a Parisian slang meaning “good style, good attitude,” BCBGMAXAZRIA embodies a true combination of European sophistication and American spiritTogether, over the last twenty-five year, Lubov and Max built one of the most prominent names in fashion today.
Alek Wek was born in Southern Sudan and raised as a part of the Dinka tribe. At fourteen, she was forced to flee to London to escape the civil war and was soon discovered at a street fair. She quickly rose to the top of the modeling industry and has since been named Model of the Decade by i-D Magazine, one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People, one of the 50 Most Influential Faces in Fashion, and named as one of the 50 Most Beautiful New Yorkers by New York Magazine.
Alek’s influence extends far beyond the fashion world. She spoke at the International Black Caucus Foreign Affairs as a member of a panel that included Hilary Clinton and other distinguished speakers. Alek has served on the advisory board for the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Migrants, launched the Bracelet of Life campaign in conjunction with Medicins Sans Frontiers/Doctors Without Borders, and published her memoir, ALEK: From Sudanese Refugee to International Supermodel. In 2012, Alek returned to her native South Sudan with the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, to mark the nation’s first anniversary. During her stay she met with refugees rebuilding their lives and raised particular attention of the need for education and opportunity for young people. Alek was appointed a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador last year and continues to advocate for the support and protection of refugee families.
