Meeting the families in Port Au Prince affected my soul and I knew I had to do all I could to protect the children. The “HARDHATS FOR HAITI” auction features Habitat for Humanity hardhats autographed by many of the artists in the RMFHAITI Video as well as ongoing supporters of Habitat for Humanity. THE FUNDS RAISED THROUGH THIS AUCTION GO DIRECTLY TO PROVIDE HOUSING SOLUTIONS FOR FAMILIES IN HAITI, through the RMF/HFH Haiti Recovery Fund (RMFHAITI).

On January 19, Ricky Martin and Jonathan Reckford, Habitat for Humanity International CEO, traveled together to Port-au-Prince, Haiti to visit earthquake-ravaged neighborhoods in the capital city, and later that day, Ricky announced the creation of the Ricky Martin Foundation / Habitat for Humanity Haiti Recovery Fund (RMFHAITI).

"The only words I can think of to describe what I’ve witnessed are that this is a living nightmare. The images that are now in my head will be impossible to erase," said Ricky Martin.

Upon his return from Haiti, Ricky witnessed the strength in the unity of the entertainment industry. He quickly reached out to his friends and colleagues and asked them to join the efforts of the Ricky Martin Foundation and Habitat for Humanity by participating in the RMFHaiti video and “Hardhats for Haiti” auction. Some people provided video, some provided autographed hardhats and some did both. The results of their unified call to action can be seen in this auction and in the video on the RMFHAITI program page at www.habitat.org/rmfhaiti.
