Camp Brooklyn was founded in 2002, by then Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and now operates as its own 501(c)3 not-for-profit Organization-Camp Brooklyn Fund. Since then, Camp Brooklyn Fund has sent thousands of economically disadvantaged Brooklyn kids to accredited sleep-away camps. Only $750 sends a child to camp for 2 weeks in the summer. With 1 in 3 children in Brooklyn living in poverty (www.city-data.com), your contribution helps to change a child's life for the better. Teamwork, loyalty, wholesome health habits, responsibility, personal respect and appreciation for nature are all a part of a child's education at summer camp. This experience opens up a world of opportunity for these young people and takes them out of their urban environment to help them to realize their own potential and give them an experience they will never forget!
