Overtime Bidding

Why did the auction closing time extend by 10 minutes after I placed my bid? This is called "Popcorn" Bidding: Bids placed within 10 minutes prior to a lot's scheduled closing time will extend the closing time on that lot an additional 10 minutes. This gives all bidders an opportunity to place a competing bid. All lots will close when there have been no bids placed within the last remaining 10 minutes.

Max Bid

Your Max Bid is the most you are willing to pay for an auction item. Consider placing a Max Bid if you don’t have time to monitor an auction. Your Max Bid won't be displayed to other bidders, but will be displayed as the current bid based on the bidding increment. You won’t pay the Max Bid amount unless another bid bumps you up to the next increment.

Watching Items

You can monitor items you're interested in without placing a bid by selecting Watch This Item after you've logged into your account. Now you can keep track of the closing date, next minimum bid and number of bids from your Account page. We’ll email you a reminder to bid the morning items you are watching close. You can remove an item from your watch list from your Account page or by clicking the Watch button again.

Closing Time

This is the time the auction will end, but "Popcorn Bidding" could add 10 minutes to the closing time. If a bid is placed within 10 minutes of the closing time, the auction will extend by 10 minutes. This allows competing bidders a chance to stay in the race.

“I was born just after New Year's in 1972, the youngest of six children. My childhood was a world of chintz and sorbet colored walls created for us by Sister Parish, whose whimsical designs proved to be very influential for me. Her striking white hair and Pekingese seemed to permeate the house—she was everywhere, from the green flowers on my curtains to the strie on my walls.

I graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York with a degree in fine arts and interior design. Immediately after graduation, I found Paris! While living there, I studied trompe l’oeil and traveled extensively throughout India, Morocco, Italy, and Peru, collecting things that reflected what was really inside of me—rich colors paired with earthy tones and geometric patterns. My influences resonated into decorative wall painting and revealed a personal vision of fantasy-swept rooms, arabesque florals, stripes, and overlapping sun-drenched squares.

In 1998, I returned to Paris, where I accidentally happened upon a fabric mill. Barrels of multicolored pigment lined the floors, and rolls of patterned, chintz, and floral fabric draped off long oak tables. Men worked by hand in the traditional, detail-oriented manner of another time. Mesmerized, I worked feverishly to create my fabric fantasies—transformations of my previous wall paintings. A few months later, Lulu DK Fabrics was born. Its mission was very clear: to merge the artistry and craftsmanship of the old world and the youthful modernity of the new.”
