In 2009, Tanya Hekimian founded her production/talent management company The Duchess of Television, LLC to channel her constant creativity and keen eye for talent - finding early success in 2009 by developing the reality television pilot Help: My Parents Are Freaks! for MTV. In addition to developing and selling four pilots in the past three years, she has also discovered and managed the upstart career of clients including the multi-talented Dr. Ramani Durvasula, “Dr. Ramani,” and television personality and fashion stylist Daniel Musto.
From 2009 to 2010, Tanya went in-house as the VP of Development in the Los Angeles office of September Films, a UK-based subsidiary of DCD Media PLC. September Films is most known in the US for producing Bridezillas for WE and Billy The Exterminator for A&E. While at September, she managed her creative team both in the US and abroad, chased rights, supervised deal flow and contracts, developed original ideas and worked with independent producers to sell two pilots within her first six months with the company. Messages, based on a book written by a 9/11 widow, aired in September 2011 on Biography.
Tanya’s career started as an agent trainee at United Talent Agency in 1993, where she honed her skills working alongside some of the agency's top agents and clients (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting, Brian Helgeland in LA Confidential, Andy Kevin Walker in Se7en, Jonathan Roberts in The Lion King, Max Mutchnick and David Kohan in Will & Grace), before serving as UTA’s Head of Story Department, overseeing coverage and collaborating with the agency's top literary talent. She has also worked as a freelance television scribe, racking up an impressive resume including shows like NBC's One World and the syndicated show Mike Hammer, Private Eye.
