Over the past decade, California public schools have seen unprecedented cutbacks in every area of their children's education. Since the late 1990's, student to teacher ratios have risen by over 25%; arts and physical education programs have been cut from the curriculum; even janitorial hours per campus have decreased by over 50%. The parents at Third Street Elementary school in Los Angeles come together each year to donate time and raise money to support programs and curriculum that may otherwise be lost, creating a more balanced educational atmosphere at their local school.

Friends of Third Street School is a California registered 501(c)3 formed for the purpose of enhancing education at Third Street School in Los Angeles, by raising and disbursing funds to enrich the educational experience of its students. Our mission is to raise money to supplement our children’s educational experiences. Through the generous donations of time and money - our families, friends, co-workers and corporate sponsors make it possible for us to provide extended library hours and services, arts and music education programs, cutting-edge technology lab instruction, field trips, School Beautiful projects and more!
