Friends of Hudson River Park is dedicated to protecting, completing, and sustaining Hudson River Park – the largest new Park to be created in New York City since Central Park, over 150 years ago.
Founded in 1999, Friends represent thousands of individual and organizational members committed to securing the funds needed to complete this world-class park; supporting its ongoing operations and development through advocacy, coalition building, and fundraising. We work closely with the Hudson River Park Trust, the City-State agency responsible for building and operating the Park, and other organizations that share our interest in ensuring the Park’s completion.
Approaching 80% completion in 2010, Hudson River Park has reclaimed New York’s once-decaying west-side waterfront as accessible public open space, and when finished, this five-mile Park will extend uninterrupted along Manhattan’s west side from 59th Street to the Battery, encompassing 150 acres of land, including 13 park piers, and 400 acres of water. The Park offers over 17 million New Yorkers and visitors each year magnificent public piers, lush lawns, sports fields, miles of bike and pedestrian paths, a variety of waterborne recreation, and extraordinary views of the Hudson River.
Your participation in our auction will help ensure that Friends can continue its work and that construction in the Park can remain uninterrupted. We hope you will join us.
