About Us
1 in every 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in her lifetime. Yet, there's still no cure for cancer. Fran Drescher and millions of women across the US are leading the Cancer Schmancer Movement to spin cancer on its head by transforming from patients, which implies passivity, into medical consumers. By empowering ourselves and the women we love to listen to our bodies, ask the right questions of our doctors, and seek second opinions, we can prevent cancer and, if we still end up with it, detect cancer in its earliest stages. By joining the Cancer Schmancer Movement, you can play your part in revolutionizing women's health history in one of three simple ways: Educate, advocate, or donate. The daughters of tomorrow will thank us, the visionaries of today, for a world where women and their families can live long and healthy lives, cancer-free!
The Cancer Schmancer Movement's programs include:
EARLY DETECTION: Fran Vans: Cancer Schmancer provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings, and when needed, TVUs, for low-income, uninsured women throughout California, in partnership with Inner Images.
CANCER PREVENTION: The Fran Plan: A massive grassroots educational campaign ‑ celebrity-driven public service announcement campaign, webinars, DVDs, and college-based programming ‑ to teach women the importance of learning their family health history, living healthier lifestyles, listening to their bodies, and truly partnering with their physicians.
PUBLIC POLICY: We are the Future (“WTF”) Movement: Cancer Schmancer’s public policy agenda that focuses on improving cancer health care legislation in the United States. In 2010, Cancer Schmancer agenda will focus on young survivors of reproductive organ cancers, partnering with the youngest members of Congress, to introduce a Bill that will provide federal money for research on the environmental causes of reproductive organ cancer in Americans under age 30.
